Be on the lookout--one of these days I will salute your responses to the vids as...*ahem* messy as you say they are.

        I'll be there.

I will be teaching and I hope to entice some of you tech poi pros to have a swing at the wonders of double meteor. What lover of flexible spinning objects wouldn't have fun with a prop that can be manipulated as a single meteor, a double meteor, mimic single staff and double staff, create a super long single meteor, can also be spun as poi, be spun as extra long poi, be spun as short poi with the ability to extend to be really long poi, be used as a rope dart (think snags folks), is the only prop that can turn into a multiprop while being spun (i.e. one hand spun as meteor the other spun as poi) and some even funkier variations that would be a pain to describe here. The beauty of it is that just by using the skills and concepts gleaned from spinning poi, dart, and staves you already have ahuge resevoir of knowledge to draw from while working with this prop.

I've been pretty much without spinners who can understand my ramblings on the spinning of things for 6 months now so I cannot wait to come play with such amazingly talented people again. If only I could sleep for a month...

    I'll be there.

    Negative on the teaching.

Relatively new to the online object twirling scene. Just hopped on youtube as Kaleidometric. Stoked that I'll get to meet some of the people I've been watching and talking with via the internet in person.

    I'm going.

I'm not teaching. Sharing knowledge, yes, but teaching a workshop, no.

It's my first FireDrums and I have no idea what to expect, except to have my expectations blown away. =)

        Chris,
what materials/size would you recommend for meteors?

Hey Exuro, this is my set up for double meteors:

Each meteor is made from a single length of rope with a monkey fist tied at each end. As for the thickness of the rope I prefer a smaller size which I believe to be 1/2" in diameter. This is jusr regular cheapo rope by the way nothing fancy. In the past I have used weighted tennis balls on the end of a length of rope as well though i prefer the monkey fists.

The length of my dub-mets is 42 inches from end to end. Though it is possible to use llonger meteors it will definitely hamper your ability to do some of the moves that i will be teaching. If you fold the meteor in half and can do a "buzzsaw" without isolating that should be a good length. You want to leave enough room so you can use your inside planes.

Gotta run have a good day dude and I hope that helps.

Mine will inevitably be a little longer since I'm little taller ; ]
I'm excited for inside planes avec meteor.

Tim! I'm ultra happy you and Jess are going to make your way out to FireDrums. It'll be great to catch up with you and hear about your journeys!

I'll be there, bringing a nine person crew and my business Burning Passion for some vending action in my veggie oil RV from Minneapolis, MN. I really can't wait to see old friends and to make connections with new ones! I will be moving out to the West Coast (unsure of exactly where quite yet) after our huge vending festival line up this summer to live full time in my RV with my girlfriend and puppy.

I'm VERY pumped! FireDrums is the first event of our travels!!! What a great way to get it started.
